Ingredients
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 c. (2 sticks) softened butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. white flour
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Beat 2 sticks of butter (1 cup), 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and 1/2 cup of white sugar together with a hand mixer.
Add 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.
Mix 2 cups of white flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1/2 cream of tartar until the dough is firm like a big ball.
Roll the dough into small balls and put them on a cookie sheet.
Dip the bottom of a cup into a bowl of sugar and squish the cookie balls little bit.
Put the cookie sheet on the top rack in the oven.
Set the timer for 8 minutes. The cookies are done when the edges turn a golden brown. If not then cook 1–2 minutes longer.
When done let cookies cool.
