3-4 dozen Good for parties/potlucks |
Ingredients
230 grams margarine
1/3 cup castor sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup plain flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 egg, beaten
1 cup cinnamon sugar
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees c.
Grease oven trays.
Mix flour, spices and margarine using a knife.
Add sugar and mix.
Add half the beaten egg, and mix in so that the mixture is consistent.
Add a LITTLE water if needed, to make the mixture stick together.
Shape small amounts of mixture with hands into a ball shape, place on a tray, and then squash flat with a fork or your thumb so that each piece is 5-10mm high. (you can also put the mixture in Christmas cutters to make shapes if you would like to.)
Brush biscuits with the rest of the beaten egg and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
Cook at 180 degrees C for about 15 minutes or until they start to brown and are slightly springy when touched.
