Ingredients

2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
colored dragees

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Heat chocolate in microwave for 2-3 minutes on medium power.

  3. When almost melted remove and stir; set aside to cool.

  4. In a small bowl stir together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

  5. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with a mixer until fluffy.

  6. Beat eggs and vanilla into butter mixture. Add melted chocolate and stir until well blended.

  7. Add flour mixture to butter mixture a little at a time and mix well.

  8. Wrap dough in plastic and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  9. Roll dough to 1/8" thickness and cut out cookies with tree shaped cookie cutter.

  10. Place cookie on ungreased cookie sheets.

  11. Bake 7-10 minutes or until light brown.

  12. Decorate. Using frosting pipe on white trim. Make small dots of white icing to "glue" dragees on to the cookies.
