We usually put in 1 whole almond, and whomever gets the whole almond, gets a marzipan pig as a gift. You can add warm strawberries or cherries as a sauce.

Ingredients

2 liters milk
2 cups delta rice or 1 1/2 cup pearl rice
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 1/2 to 2 cups sugar
1 bag of sliced almonds
2 teaspoons of almond extract
1 pint whipping cream

Directions

  1. In heavy pot, melt margarine or butter to coat the pot.

  2. Then put the milk in, then the rice.  Let it come to a boil.

  3. Turn down to the lowest heat and cover, check periodically and stir.

  4. It will thicken in about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

  5. Take off the stove when done and let it cool.

  6. When the rice is cooled, mix in the sugar.  Then add the almond extract.

  7. Whip the whipping cream.  Fold the whipped cream into the rice, add the almonds.
