Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup low fat cream cheese
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 egg white
2 tablespoons grated orange peel
1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
3 tablespoons orange juice
Directions
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Spray to cookie sheets with non-stick cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer set on medium speed, beat granulated sugar, cream cheese, and butter until fluffy. Beat in egg white and orange peel.
At low speed, beat in flour mixture until blended.
Gather dough into a ball; wrap in plastic wrap.
Chill for 2 hours.
On a floured surface, using a floured rolling pin, roll dough to a 1/4-inch thickness.
Using a 1 1/2-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out cookies.
Place, 1 inch apart, on prepared baking sheets.
Reroll scraps; cut out more cookies.
Bake cookies until golden brown, about 10 minutes.
Place baking sheets on wire racks and cool slightly.
Place cookies on racks and cool.
To prepare glaze, in a small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar and orange juice.
Brush cookies with glaze.
