Ingredients
3 cups flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Sift dry ingredients together.
In large bowl, beat butter and sugars until smooth.
Add egg, molasses, and vanilla. Beat until well mixed.
Add dry ingredients a little at a time.
Make dough into a ball, cover with plastic wrap, and chill for 1 hour.
Roll out dough 1/8" to 1/4" thick.
Cut cookies.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 8 to 10 minutes until almost firm.
Do not overcook if you want them to stay soft.
